Hey all...I typically am not a political person (even though I was a “Girls Stater” in High School), but this year in this election I feel particularly strong about one issue or proposition in particular, and that is Proposition 8 in California. Even if you aren’t from California, please educate yourself on this issue and help spread the word and put up posts on this issue so others (living in Cali) are informed. I actually have a number of gay friends and co-workers and in no way feel this is discriminating against them, a lot of people just aren’t informed about this proposition and once they become informed actually understand what this is really about, and that is why I am posting about it, and hopefully I can help spread the word about Prop 8.
So below are a few things I’d like to share about Prop 8…if you’d like more info. Please feel free to click the links on the sidebar to learn more.
Having tolerance without condoning. We can love someone while still maintaining and advocating our standards and beliefs.
Unless Proposition 8 passes, California society will soon undergo a profound change in its basic understanding of marriage and family life. That will affect everyone in numerous ways. Over time, greater acceptance of nontraditional marriage will be demanded of all people. This could impact the ability of any religion to teach and practice its beliefs.
Proposition 8 will not hurt gays. In California, the law provides for marriage-related benefits to be given to civil unions and domestic partnerships. Proposition 8 does not diminish these benefits.
Failure to pass Proposition 8 will hurt children. If gay marriage remains legal, public schools will put it on equal footing with traditional marriage. Children will likely receive “age appropriate” information about sexual relations within heterosexual and homosexual marriages.
Failure to pass Proposition 8 will hurt churches. The court’s decision will inevitably lead to conflicts with religious liberty and free speech rights. Society will become more and more hostile to traditional beliefs about marriage and family.

Doting Parents
Ok I know blogs often times turn into parents doting upon their lovely children, so I apologize in advance that I haven’t blogged anything noteworthy as of late, but being a new mother kind of burns brain cells on top of exhausting you, so I haven’t wanted to take the time to actually think and apply myself anyway.
So we went to get Ella & Asher’s portraits taken last week, so Asher is just 2 weeks old in these photos and Ella is 28 months. But I do have to be an annoying doting mother, because I do think my kiddies are pretty cute, so I thought I’d share….

Princess Ella & the Bum
My best friend Heather was ever so nice to get Ella a little Cinderella Princess Dress up kit and as you can see the only problem now is getting her OUT OF IT!! She loves it and runs around the house (we even let her wear it out once: I know W.T.)...and she sings along to her Princess Sing-A-Long DVD. Thanks Heather, it will be nice to have when baby brother comes along...
Another fun thing to do around our house is to weigh ourselves (said with sarcasm of course)! But Ella was trying to go potty (thus why her pants were off) and then suddenly decided she needed to weigh herself...so I thought these pictures were too funny and cute to pass up (sorry if anyone is offended by a 2 yr. old bare bum).

HAWAII--Early 90's..Drill Team...Remember?
Jileen, Jennifer, and Jamie will remember well our Hawaii trip. Our drill team (dance, pep squad) in Jr. High performed at the Aloha Bowl one winter. We were either 7th or 8th graders. So we were gone for Christmas and went to Hawaii to perform and have fun in Hawaii. We thought we were SO COOL (as you can see we weren’t) posing with the football players, and dressing much older than we thought we were. Still I just think it’s hilarious. Especially since I have been friends with these girls since 6th grade (or longer...) and we are all still friends today. Anyway this ones for you girls!

The Death of Dora & Boots (O.C. Fair)
The JOY.....

and the flush.....
Yes
we flushed our first goldfish. We went to the Orange County Fair with my parents and Ella had a blast. She won 2 stuffed animals, AND TWO goldfish (with a little aquarium, so as you can imagine, as any 2 year old would be, she was thrilled!!! She named them Dora & Boots (her obsession as of late). Well we are proud to say that Dora (the gold fish) is still alive n' kicking...but Boots only made it two days. Daddy tried to sneak him out (after we found him floating belly up) but Ella was insitant on knowing what he was doing. And we tried to hide it from her, but she kept asking "WHERE IS BOOTS" "WHERE IS THE OTHER FISHY" She noticed and there wasnt much we could do, so we explained FISHY HEAVEN, which she now talks about daily.
So this blog is in memory of the grey goldfish BOOTS!

Our WILD & FUN 4th of July!!!
We had a busy and fun 4th of July! We started the day with Nana, Boppy, Ryan & Hayley at the Ontario City Parade. It wasn’t very entertaining and I was hotter than anything, but as you can tell from Ella's next picture (BELOW) she had a blast. She danced in the street & saw Elmo & Cookie Monster (highlight of the parade for her). We also told her she had firecrackers in her hair...and she thought that was pretty cool.
We then went to Nana & Boppy's for an all day swim party and BBQ. The kids have a blast when all of their cousins are over and swimming.
Later that evening everyone came over to our apartment and we walked to the park to do a few cheesy carnival games and then back to our place, where we have a more than perfect view of the fireworks, with wide open space for the kids to run around and play.
